Definition of Retrograde

The term applied to an apparent backward motion in the Zodiac of certain planets when decreasing in longitude as viewed from the Earth. It can be compared to the effect of a slow-moving train as viewed from another train traveling parallel to it but at a more rapid rate, wherein the slower train appears to be moving backwards. However, in the case of the celestial bodies it is not a matter of their actual speed or travel. It is about the rate at which they change their angular relationship. What does this Mercury Retrograde means to us

It disrupts the thinking mind, communications, the ability to come to agreements with others, decision-making, etc. It's best not to make important decisions while Mercury is moving backwards, and all plans should be reviewed later to find the gaping holes in logic that often creep in.

It’s a time to make sure you have the most upgraded anti virus software on your computer. Invest in ad aware or anti spy ware program or get updates before Mercury Retrograde kicks in.

You may not have any problems with viruses but just sending or receiving an email can become a problem. It is a good idea to back up the hard-drive on your computer before Mercury goes retrograde. Computers frequently fail during these cycles.

You may have problems making or taking a phone call. You may experience problems with your home phone or mobile. It’s a good time to make sure that all your flight plans are set in motion. There may be times you find your flight schedule changes and you will only know when you get to the airport. Therefore, it is a good idea to get to the airport early.

If you are one who rely heavily on your car, check that your car properly before the retrograde. It maybe something new that comes up in your vehicle that needs to be fixed.

That said, the Mercury Retrograde need not be feared or dreaded. There can be times when it can actually help in improving communication among people.
